Meet the first official "promiser" to be posted!

Name: Anders Johnson
Age:25
Occupation: Student
Place of Residence: Bloomington, IN

1. It’s a simple idea but easily offended in my own life. I’m choosing to eat all the food that I buy. This might be as simple as bringing home food when I go out to eat or actually finishing off those two extra hot dogs buns when I buy an eight pack and hot dogs come in six packs. I hate the idea of throwing away food but I am a major culprit.
2. Food production is costly enough these days and the idea that the food has been killed, packaged, shipped, stored, and then not eaten is a disturbing personal habit. I think just eating what I actually buy would ultimately lower my bills and lower the amount of food that I purchase. This might mean that I have to be more intentional about writing out a list and not making impulse purchases or experimental platters.
3. The first step will be writing out a list and making sure that I don’t overbuy or veer off the list thinking I’m going to make something I’m not.
Next, find a quantity that will suffice for one person living alone who eats only two meals a day.
Finally, I must be very intentional about storing leftovers properly and eating them in good time.
4. This will hopefully make a but permanent impact on my life and the way I eat over the next bachelor years of my life. I simply can’t afford to eat the way I do right now and I’d like to change that not only for the environmental impact but more for myself.
sentence on plate: Clean Plate Club Final Cut: I will not stop until I see my reflection.

  1. I'm excited about Anders' promise to not waste food. It is admittedly almost impossible to eat entirely local and organic all the time (especially on a student budget) but it is always possible to appreciate what you have.
